Q&A: Anna Goodchild, Head of Spa Therapy at Fairmont Windsor Park

The spa at Fairmont Windsor Park boasts a variety of facilities designed to promote relaxation. Guests can enjoy a refreshing swim in the 20-metre indoor lap pool, unwind in the vitality pool, or experience the therapeutic benefits of the hydrotherapy pools and thermal suite. The spa also offers a range of beauty services to pamper and enhance your natural beauty. We spoke with Anna Goodchild, Head of Spa Therapy at Fairmont Windsor Park, to learn more about the hotel and its spa facilities.

  1. Fairmont Windsor Park boasts an impressive array of facilities. Can you describe the spa’s overall philosophy on wellness and how these facilities work together to create a holistic experience for guests?

The spa opened in 2022 and it was built on the basis of creating a luxury experience for guests combining everything for the mind, body and the soul.

2. With such a wide range of facilities, from the 20m lap pool to the Himalayan Salt Room, how does the spa cater to guests with varying fitness levels and wellness goals?

We’ve got a team of professionals who are able to personalise bespoke treatments to our guests. So the majority of our facilities can be used by any guest of all fitness levels. We’ve got a wide range of professionals as well who are able to personalise packages for our guests.

3. The Aquavibe Bed treatment sounds particularly intriguing. Could you talk a little more about this treatment and what makes it a standout feature of the spa?

The Aquavibe bed, there’s only two in the country, we’re lucky enough to have one of them. It’s a dry flotation bed, and it takes you on a guided meditation so you listen to that, the bed vibrates depending on exactly which track the guest would choose and there’s also an LED light sort of mask that they can wear.

4. The Japanese Ashiyu Foot Ritual Bath is a unique offering. Can you explain the benefits of this traditional practice and how it fits into the spa’s overall wellness approach?

The Japanese foot spa offers relaxation for the guests and gentle reflexology as well as improves circulation.

5. How does the spa integrate cutting-edge technology like Cryotherapy with traditional treatments?

We’ve got our cryotherapy treatment. Although it’s a relatively new experience, cold bathing has been around for a long, long time. So you’ve got the pre-chamber that you would go into. That’s minus 60 degrees, and guests are in there for up to 30 seconds. They then make their way into the main chamber, which is minus 110 degrees. So it’s really good for a wide range of benefits, helps with mental well-being, really, really good for skin conditions, muscular aches and pains, it does everything!

6. Given the spa’s extensive offerings, do therapists work closely with guests to create personalised treatment plans or recommend specific facilities based on their needs?

We’re actually the only hotel in the UK that offers doctor-led treatments. You’ve got sort of a wide range of more aesthetic treatments but then we’ve got Dr Raj on site as well who does do GP appointments.

7. Creating a sense of serenity is crucial for a relaxing spa experience. How do the Courtyard Vitality Pool and other relaxation areas within the spa contribute to this atmosphere?

The Vitality Pool is a hydrotherapy pool. It’s heated so it’s between 32 and 34 degrees. That’s really good for anybody who is suffering with any particular aches or pains. It’s nice as well just to have a general relax in there. We’ve also got our Himalayan salt room which is really good for the respiratory system. We’ve got sauna, steam room, really good for mental clarity but also to improve blood circulation. Lastly we’ve also got our experience shower which is really, really nice. So that is all about reawakening the senses and revitalising the body.

8. “The FaceBible” is a name that stood out. Can you tell us more about this and how it enhances a guest’s spa experience?

The spa’s whole experience from check in to check out we’ve got a really experienced reservation team, we’ve got an amazing team of therapists here as well. We also have Caleb Folen who is just brilliant, he’s a real holistic therapist and he’s able to take his guests on a real journey combining sports science with holistic therapy. So he offers a combination of reflexology, acupuncture, sports massage, deep tissue massage and reiki.

9. With a focus on innovation, what exciting trends do you see shaping the future of the spa experience at Fairmont Windsor Park?

Definitely an emphasis on more doctor-led treatments in the Face Bible Clinic and also just really promoting general well-being and mental health.

10. Thank you again for sharing your insights. For our audience who are looking to experience a transformative wellness journey, Can you share an example of how a guest might combine treatments from different areas, like the Aquavibe and Cryotherapy, to achieve a specific wellness goal?

The treatments can be combined from the spa and also from the Face Bible Clinic. So guests could have, you know, a more relaxing natura bise treatment and then go into the Face Bible for a more aesthetics, innovative treatment. You’ve also got our PT sessions in the gym downstairs, so guests can book in with one of our wellness experts and then have a sports massage afterwards.
